anAll Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17

Many of us have spent our lives clinging to scripture, believing the book is divinely written by God Himself. We hold to the truths contained within it, doing our best to live our lives by the precepts laid out by it. We relish the words as balm to our hurting souls, recognizing it as a love letter from our Heavenly Father.

But what do we really know about scripture? Can the Bible as we know it be trusted? How did we arrive at the book we have today, a compilation of 66 books? Were there other books? Why weren’t they included? How can we be assured that what we have is truly the Word of God?

Maybe you’ve never stopped to consider these questions, and maybe you have. I was blessed to sit in on some seminary classes decades ago where we learned just how we came up with the Bible as we know it. I’ve studied the different versions, knowing that our more contemporary versions are actually based upon texts that are much older and more accurate than the older versions.

But nothing I know compares to the work of Steve and Jackie Green.

The Greens (Steve is president of Hobby Lobby) have always had a love for scripture. But never did they imagine the journey God would take them on. Their interest in the Word of God began a quest that has taken them around the world, buying artifacts related to the Bible. As their collection grew, so did their desire to open a museum so all people could see their collection.

But even more than viewing the artifacts, the Greens greatest desire was to start a conversation. The Bible is the best-selling book of all time. More homes own a Bible than any other book. Many of the founders of America staked their lives on the Bible.

Even in other countries, the Word of God and Christianity are carefully woven into the fabric of our history. Many of the most influential people and events throughout history have a strong foundation in Christianity.

As the Greens traveled down this path of seeking out Biblical artifacts, they found themselves falling more in the love with this precious book, a book that guides their lives and their business. And they wanted to share their journey with all of us.

In This Dangerous Book, Steve and Jackie chronicle their journey to creating the Museum of the Bible now open in Washington D.C. They tell the story of the Bible, how it came to be as we know it. They tell of the impact it has had on our lives, even if we don’t know it.

And they tell how it has changed their lives forever.

This Dangerous Book is more than just a history of the word of God, though. It’s a conversation piece, an opportunity to open our minds and explore the one book that has had the greatest impact on our world than any other single item this world has ever known.

If you’ve ever wondered about the Bible, about its history and its credibility, about its value, I encourage you to pick up a copy of the Green’s book. Read it. Dive into the Word like you never have before. Fall in love with scripture all over again.

And, just for you, I have a copy I will mail FREE to one special reader! To have a chance to win your own copy, just comment below and leave your email. I will place all of the names in a hat and draw a winner next week! The winner will be notified by email so I can get a mailing address!

I would love to win a copy. Before I read of the giveaway, I was planning to comment that this is a book I will definitely look into as a woman in love with the Word of God. I also wanted to ask, is the Bible still in this day the most popular book? Does as many homes have the Bible in their home as was say 50 years ago? I just wonder.

I find it fascinating that there are books that were not included in the Bible and wonder why they weren’t included.

I bought 3 copies as gifts for my son, future son in law, and possible future son in law. I hope they become deeper men of “The Book” yet I have not read it myself. I have studied the development of the Bible but would be interested the Greens story and how God uses people to tell of his word and his great love for all mankind.
